The Butler University Indianapolis Shotokan Karate Club is affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America  a nonprofit organization teaching traditional Karate-do since 1955.

How to Join

Beginners are welcome to join at any time during the year.  While the club is based out of Butler University, non Butler students are also welcome to participate.  Formal organizational meetings are held at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters.  At any other times you are encouraged to come and watch one of the regularly scheduled practices then speak with one of the instructors.

Dues:

Shotokan Karate of America, and the Butler University Indianapolis Shotokan dojo are non-profit organizations. However, fees are charged to meet the expenses of running the organization.

National Dues: $75/first year, $100/year thereafter
This entitles a member to various privileges including training at any SKA or affiliated dojo, ranking, participating in special practices, tournaments and other events organized by the SKA. A subscription to a quarterly on-line newsletter is included in the membership.

Local Dues

Students: $50/ semester

Community members: $100/semester

There is a $6 guest fee required for community members to practice in the HRC, but there is no charge for use of the West Gym.
